5.25 Hastings Blossom Parade - website optimised .jpg

What a better way to celebrate the arrival of spring and the wonderful Hawke’s Bay produce.

The 2011 Blossom Festival Parade is celebrates a special welcome to the French and Canadian Rugby World Cup teams, they play in Napier on Sunday 18 September.

The tradition of the Blossom Festival Parade dates back to the 1950s and has become a large part of the region's identity. The parade is a celebration of spring for Hawkes Bay, a region known for its horticulture and viticulture within New Zealand. It is a multicultural, community-based celebration with over a thousand people taking part.

The day starts early full of fun with live entertainment, food stalls and a craft market. After the parade starts with its colourful progress through the streets an array of blossom-themed and decorated floats, with Hawke’s Bay marching teams and local bands finishing off the spring spectacle.

The Parade marks the start of Blossom Festival within the region - nine days of food, wine and festivities such as the Epicurious Weekend with events such as the New Zealand Olive Festival and the Hawke's Bay Farmers' Market.

What better way to celebrate spring in the Bay!
