The Saguaro Trio have burst onto the international music scene with stunning successes. In quick succession, they placed third in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in the United States, and second in the 6th Osaka International Chamber Music competition in Japan, both in May 2008. On 26 September 2009 they solidified their reputation as one of the most thoughtful and engaging young ensembles in the classical music world today by taking first place at the International Chamber Music Competition Hamburg. In Hamburg, the Saguaro Trio also won the special prize for the best performance of a work by Brahms. The 2011 Blossom Festival Parade is celebrates a special welcome to the French and Canadian Rugby World Cup teams, they play in Napier on Sunday 18 September. The tradition of the Blossom Festival Parade dates back to the 1950s and has become a large part of the region's identity. The parade is a celebration of spring for Hawkes Bay, a region known for its horticulture and viticulture within New Zealand. It is a multicultural, community-based celebration with over a thousand people taking part. The day starts early full of fun with live entertainment, food stalls and a craft market. After the parade starts with its colourful progress through the streets an array of blossom-themed and decorated floats, with Hawke’s Bay marching teams and local bands finishing off the spring spectacle. The Parade marks the start of Blossom Festival within the region - nine days of food, wine and festivities such as the Epicurious Weekend with events such as the New Zealand Olive Festival and the Hawke's Bay Farmers' Market.
